The official Twitter account for the Knights of Sidonia anime franchise announced tonight that the sequel film, Knights of Sidonia: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi, will be postponed from its May 14 premiere to June 4 due to the State of Emergency measures in Japan to combat COVID-19, which sees a majority of theaters in the countries most populous regions close.

Knights of Sidonia, based on the manga series by Tsutomu Nihei, about a colony of humans more than a thousand years in the future fleeing from the shapeshifting aliens known as Gauna. Amongst them is Garde pilot Nagate and human/Gauna hybrid Tsumugi. Ai Tsumugu Hoshi will adapt the closing arc of the manga. The film is currently scheduled to be released on June 4.
